Suspension

suspension imageAll 4x4 truck chassis are purely designed to carry large loads at maximum GVM. To think you are going to get a comfortable ride in one of these 4x4 trucks with the original suspension retained is simply wishful thinking……especially in a lightweight camper or family crewcab……So All Terrain Warriors started to develop suspension modifications for Mitsubishi & Isuzu 4.5 – 6 ton 4x4 trucks in the 1980’s originally for commercial tour bus operators in Cape York. Years of development saw us trial many different leafspring pack combinations, coil over springs, air bags, Aeon type bumpstops, shockabsorber combinations, etc etc. We finally settled on what we regarded was the best allround setup for passenger comfort and offroad capability. This was called our “Cape York” suspension which utilized long packs (200 mm longer than original) with a revised leaf configuration and came with either single or double long-travel shock absorbers on each corner.

As of late 2009, we again made some major steps forward by developing a full coil conversion for the Fuso FG84….a world first. The articulation that can now be achieved is just staggering and for vehicles without diff locks, this is a tremendous advantage when offroad. While our well proven “Cape York” suspension is still available, it is about to be rendered obsolete by new parabolic leaf spring systems purposely designed for general on and off road use for the Fuso FG84 and the Isuzu NPS trucks. This will be offered in various weight categories to suit many different applications and will mean that we can now offer a comprehensive range of suspensions to more accurately suit a client's individual needs and budget. No modifications to the existing chassis are required and this will be offered as a simple bolt-in kit.

suspension imageWe have also been working closely with Roboshock in the development of a range of shockabsorbers specifically for the Fuso FG84 and Isuzu NPS chassis and have now secured sole rights and distributorship for these. They are a key component of our suspension conversions and offer absolute simplicity, optional in-cabin ride control and an extreme level of rebound that was previously unattainable. These shocks feature 25mm shafts with oil remote resevoirs……this technology has been already been well tested on the big Kenworth road trains doing millions of kilometers over punishing corrugations on the Tanami Track and Cape York.
